About Reg 44 Kent

A small, independent service run by people who have worked in and around children's homes for a long time.

Why we do this

Children living in residential care deserve adults outside the home who turn up, listen, and write down what they hear. Done well, the Regulation 44 visit is one of the few regular, independent checks on a child's daily life. We think that matters, and we think it should be done properly.

We set up Reg 44 Kent to offer homes in the county a visitor who is local, consistent, and genuinely independent.

Experience

  • Residential childcareYears spent working in and managing children's homes, so we know what a good shift looks like and what a difficult one feels like.
  • SafeguardingCurrent, up-to-date safeguarding training and a clear understanding of thresholds, referrals and local arrangements in Kent.
  • Regulation and inspectionClose working knowledge of the 2015 Regulations, the Quality Standards and Ofsted's Social Care Common Inspection Framework.
  • WritingReports written in plain English that a manager can act on and an inspector can trust.

How we work

  • Enhanced DBS check, renewed and on the update service
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Written agreement with each provider setting out independence, confidentiality and reporting
  • Same visitor each month wherever possible, so children see a familiar face
  • Reports sent promptly after every visit

Where we visit
